New vessel arrest boom in Port of Gibraltar
09-02-2022
SDE Limited has installed a new vessel arrest boom in the Port of Gibraltar. The aim is to restrict access to certain areas in order to ensure a safety navigation in inner harbour. The company has acquired eight mooring buoys to Almarin to sustain this 520-meter security barrier.
These navaids have been custom designed to adjust to the requirements of this project: three subjection points have been incorporated in the immersed structure design of the B1600M mooring buoys, as well as a longer tail, additional counterweight and extra mooring point below the hull. The buoys have a radar reflector and a lighting solar system in the upper side. Previously, Almarin carried out a similar project with the supply of buoys for a containment boom in Léman lake, in the border between France and Switzerland.
