Marina Palamós improves navigation safety with a waiting pontoon

Marina Palamós now features a new waiting pontoon in the entrance channel to the main harbour. This new floating auxiliary structure serves as a temporary mooring point for boats measuring up to 10 meters in length during periods when they are waiting for availability in the marina or at the fuel pump. The management of the marina designed this solution to improve safety in the summer months when there is heavy traffic entering or leaving the marina coinciding with boats waiting to refuel that previously had to circle in the main channel. The solution is designed to be dismantled and removed to storage in winter months.

Almarin supplied and installed the 60-meter-long aluminum floating pontoon, with a 6-meter-long aluminum access walkway, all manufactured by Lindley. Due to its close proximity to the breakwater, the chosen mooring system was articulated radius arms. This approach also avoided the use of piles, thereby minimizing the required resources for installation.

Marina Palamós, located on the Costa Brava in Spain, has 902 moorings and also has a boatyard area and a nautical base.
