Almarin improves the safety in Port of Burela under the request of Portos de Galicia
28-02-2013
To improve the approach to the port of Burela, Portos de Galicia has commissioned Almarin to supply and install a new lantern for the main beacon of the Port of Burela. The new team is characterized by a scope and definition far superior to the previous team, providing better information to sailors who navigate these difficult-to-navigate waters. The beacon of the port of Burela has the particularity that it emits green and red lights (called ‘sectorized’), thus operating with multiple LED light sources. In the case of Puerto de Burela, a sector of red light marks the lows from Piedra Burela to the coast to indicate to the navigator that they should not approach the port in that direction.
As part of the Puerto de Burela improvement project, Almarin has also delivered two buoys from its Balizamar range. The two model B1600S buoys mark the channel formed between the outer jetty and the lower ones on the land side. The Portos de Galicia technicians requested a solution with a low borneo radius to limit the movement of the buoy and Almarin technicians recommended a double anchor train that reduces the borneo radius of the buoys. In this way the channel is not obstructed and benefits are not lost in the event of rough seas. The buoys of the Balizamar range are characterized by their excellent stability and robustness, and are made of rotationally molded polyethylene and filled with expanded polystyrene that ensure their unsinkability.
